Across India, millions gathered around and celebrated Holi on Friday (March 14, 2025), smearing each other with bright colours and dancing to music.
Amid tight security arrangements in view of the festival and Friday prayers, people danced to festive music and flung water balloons from balconies and rooftops at passersby. Traditional sweets were distributed as children and youth revelled, smearing ‘gulal’ on each other.
From Delhi to Telangana, communities organised ‘Holika Dahan’ on Thursday night, signifying a victory of good over evil.
In some places, the festival of colours was celebrated with hurling flowers like marigolds and roses.
With tight security arrangements, the festival was largely celebrated across the country peacefully.
