The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday (March 19, 2025) will take up discussion on the working of Ministry of Home Affairs. The Parliament on Tuesday approved the supplementary demands for grants, which entails ₹51,463 crore additional spending in the current fiscal and the Manipur Budget for 2025-26 with the Rajya Sabha returning four bills to the Lok Sabha.

The Rajya Sabha returned The Appropriation Bill, 2025; The Appropriation (No. 2) Bill, 2025; The Manipur Appropriation (Vote on Account) Bill, 2025; and The Manipur Appropriation Bill, 2025, after the reply by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to a discussion on the four bills.

Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Lok Sabha about the successful execution of the Maha Kumbh Mela, which he termed a pivotal moment in India’s history. Following his speech, Opposition members demanded the right to ask questions, which Speaker Om Birla disallowed as not in accordance with the rules. Sloganeering persisted as the House moved to a discussion on the demand for grants under the Ministry of Railways for the year 2025-26.

Congress MP Sonia Gandhi spoke on the issue of MNREGS during Zero Hour in Rajya Sabha. There was brief ruckus in the Upper House as Saket Gokhale raised the duplicate voter ID issue.
