Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (March 19, 2025) welcomed Sunita Williams and the crew after they returned to the earth on Tuesday (March 18, 2025)
Mr. Modi said on X that Ms. Williams and her crew have once again shown what perseverance truly means.
“Theirs has been a test of grit, courage and the boundless human spirit. Sunita Williams and the #Crew9 astronauts have once again shown us what perseverance truly means. Their unwavering determination in the face of the vast unknown will forever inspire millions,” Mr. Modi noted.
“Space exploration is about pushing the limits of human potential, daring to dream, and having the courage to turn those dreams into reality. Sunita Williams, a trailblazer and an icon, has exemplified this spirit throughout her career,” he added.
He said that the crew have demonstrated what happens when precision meets passion and technology meets tenacity.
“We are incredibly proud of all those who worked tirelessly to ensure their safe return,” Mr. Modi said.
The SpaceX capsule of Ms. Williams and Mr. Wilmore parachuted into the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday (March 18, 2025) evening, just hours after starting from the International Space Station. Their splashdown occurred off the coast of Tallahassee in the Florida Panhandle.
