7.7 magnitude earthquake strikes Myanmar and Thailand

A powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake shook Thailand and Myanmar at midday on March 28, 2025. The tremors were strong enough to bring down a high-rise building under construction in Bangkok, forcing hundreds of thousands to flee their homes and workplaces. Authorities are still assessing the damage and casualties from the collapse near the city’s Chatuchak market. The number of people trapped or injured remains unknown. Thousands of people gathered in open spaces like Benjasiri Park, afraid to return to their homes and offices due to aftershocks.
