Palestinians are the indigenous people of Palestine, and even Mahatma Gandhi had supported the right of Palestinian people to their land, said the newly appointed Ambassador of Palestine, Abdullah Mohammad A. Abu Shawesh.
Speaking at a press meet in the Embassy of the State of Palestine, Ambassador Shawesh on Monday (April 7, 2025) showed a collection of videos that chronicled the killing of Palestinians by Israeli armed forces in the West Bank.

“I am from Gaza originally, and the question is not about whether any one of us lost relatives in the ongoing Israeli attack. The question is, how many relatives or family members have we lost in the Israeli attacks? We are the indigenous people of Palestine, and the name of Palestinians finds mention in the Old Testament. Even Mahatama Gandhi had said that Palestine belongs to the Palestinians just like England belongs to the English people,” Mr. Shawesh.

Mr. Shawesh came down on the international media for not highlighting the killings in Gaza and the West Bank and argued that Israeli armed forces were carrying out random killings and violent attacks against Palestinian civilians. “The world knows the situation in Gaza is brutal because of the Israeli attacks, but the situation in the West Bank is no less compelling,” the Ambassdaor said.
The envoy, who arrived in India two months ago, blamed Prime Minister Netanyahu for setting Israel up for an eternal war and accused him of destroying the peace process. “Yigal Amir, the killer of Itzhak Rabin, was provoked by the remarks by Netanyahu and his colleagues who wanted to destroy the Oslo accord,” he said.
