Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the U.S. on Thursday (February 14, 2025) invited President Donald Trump to India for the upcoming Quad Leaders’ Summit.

According to the statement, both leaders have “reaffirmed commitment to Quad and Indo–Pacific.” During the talks, India and the US decided to take a big leap in broad-basing their strategic ties in several critical areas, including defence, energy, and critical technology. Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual interest.

PM Modi took to X and said he had an “excellent” meeting with President Trump and that their talks “will add significant momentum to the India-USA friendship!”.
PM Modi and President Trump have further launched the Indian Ocean Strategic Venture —a new bilateral, whole-of-government forum to advance coordinated investments in economic connectivity and commerce.

The statement further added the countries “plan to build new plurilateral anchor partnerships in the Western Indian Ocean, Middle East, and Indo-Pacific to grow relationships, commerce and cooperation across defence, technology, energy and critical minerals.”
