A soldier was injured in a firing incident close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu’s Nowshera district on Wednesday (March 12, 2025) morning.

Officials said the soldier, posted at a forward post in the Kalsiyan area of Nowshera sector, was hit by a bullet from across the border.
The injured soldier was evacuated to the military hospital in Udhampur for advanced treatment. An investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of the firing, officials said.
Preliminary reports suggested that the firing was preceded by an explosion on LoC.
The Jammu region witnessed multiple cases of cross-border firing this year. Official figures suggested that six skirmishes were reported on the LoC in Jammu, Rajouri and Poonch districts in January and February. Two soldiers, including a Captain, were killed in an improvised explosive device, and at least two other soldiers were hit by snipers.
