From holding the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai National Memorial at Ahmedabad to gathering at Mahatma Gandhi’s Sabarmati Ashram, the two-day-long All India Congress Committee (AICC) session on April 8 and 9 will underscore the pasty’s long-standing legacy in Gujarat.
A senior Congress leader said that the extended CWC, which will adopt a resolution of the AICC session, will meet at the Sardar Patel memorial on April 8, 2025.
Though the venue of the meeting could be interpreted as Congress’s attempt to reclaim Sardar’s legacy, party insiders strongly denied it. “Even in 2019 we had held a CWC meeting before the Lok Sabha polls. The memorial is managed by a trust that is still headed by former Union Minister, veteran Congress leader Dinsha Patel,” the source said.

On the evening of April 8, top Congress leaders would meet at the Sabarmati Ashram, which served as Gandhiji’s home and the base for India’s freedom movement between 1917 and 1930.
The day-long AICC session would at the Sabarmati river front on April 9, 2025.
Ahead of 2027 Assembly elections in Gujarat, the AICC session is being seen as Congress’s attempt to revive itself in a State where it has been out of power since 1995. Since 1998, the BJP has an uninterrupted rule in the State.
