The Enforcement Directorate has arrested The Hindu’s Ahmedabad correspondent Mahesh Langa under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the agency said on Tuesday.
“Mahesh Prabhudan Langa was produced before the Special Judge (PMLA), Mirzapura Court, Ahmedabad, and the Special Judge (PMLA) has granted four days’ ED custody till February 28, 2025,” it said.

The ED said it initiated an investigation based on a first information report filed by the DCB police station, Ahmedabad City, against Mr. Langa and others for alleged cheating and criminal breach of trust.

According to the agency, it found that another FIR had been filed by the Satellite police station (Ahmedabad) against him alleging fraud, criminal misappropriation, criminal breach of trust, cheating, and causing wrongful loss. The ED said it was also probing alleged involvement in a “GST Input Tax Credit” case.
